A typical suggestion for Valentines Day (And Whites Day) , what do you say we create a "What If" sort of thread in the board during those days to see how they want their FF couples to turn out etc. etc. (Though I would probably never step into this thread if I could help it,my sister's suggestion is a bit odd it seems -.- )
Yet another suggestion :P During Thanksgiving day,make a temporary thread for officers,recruits and leaders alike to thank the users their indebted (Or stuff like that,might not neccessarily be "indebted") to in this Union. I guess this ought to spice up the "Social" related issues :P
As for the other festivals,I'm still trying to think up a thing or two.Of course,what I mentioned would be a minor event so it would make space for more prominent events :P
Here are some minor suggestions as well...
Artwork thread (I swear I seen a thread some time ago with some of the member's artworks.Make this a thread to store their artwork,either made by PC or hand is fine.Probably can double as a thread to look out for decent designers.)
Video Thread (A thread to link videos to member's videos on other sites.Must be FF related of course and no elaborate advertising of their vids etc. etc. If it's very active,it can serve as a foundation to make a group of Video related Officers)
Most Popular Officer Thread (First,make a thread to choose amongst the sea of officers.Then,the chosen few will be in a poll to choose for the most popular officer.Serves as a foundation of the suggestion I made several months or so ago.Whether it serves as a one time event or lasts for the entire year is up to your decision.)
Minor Update Thread (For updates that are too minor for the front page and probably too short to make as a thread can be collected here.Can also serve as a thread to collect info from recruits who can't post on the front page.Serves as a look out for potential Officers this way as well.)

Those are some Nice ideas, but I have some things to say to those as well
1.For that Valentine's Day thingy, Not to crush your sister's hard work or anything, but that's not a very good game and that would end really quickly(it's also very girly and I can tell because I am a girl) also I can already make most ofl the mathes in the games:
Yuna and Tidus
Squall and Rinoa
Cloud and Tifa
Zidane and Garnet
and there some more but these are the most obvious...
To your thankksgiving one, thanksgiving is over, if it's a temporary thread and we delete it will take some of the unions stats.
Arthwork thread..Awesome, I love it, wether it could be simple hand-drawings or Computer Graphics, I'll be hoping to get this up soon, this could also give us some sort of Banner competition?
Video Thread..Too much URL's, must be FF related?, no one will follow the rules they'll promote videos and take someone elses video as their own.
Most Popular Officer..Maniamsmart would be All-time defending champ, I'm officer and I would vote for him, he's not be narcissstic, he's being realistic, how about a monthly awards like at TPS3EU?
Minor Update thread...I dunno, I hae mixed feelings about this one, not much people would visit it, Recruits posting in it would mess up important yet minor updates from officers,and there is no option to sticky messages as off now, As FG said himself Officers need to do something big for the FFE community to be officers, or be refered by Maniamsmart as it was in my case, not just post little updates that say"OMG FFXIII is coming out tomorrow in english, let's celebrate!" although we might see a potential in some recruits we have an officer limit, and i'm certainly trying to be active to not be demoted.
