You know, Singapore, Valencia and Abu Dhabi are joining next year, South Korea in 2010 and India and Russia in discussion. A lot of country extend their contract further, is there too many races in F1???

maybe... but if this is the case, you have to got to get rid of some others. trakcs that are boring and provide no overtaking.

There should never be more than 18 races in a season. They have the right for vacation too!

There's 17 this year, and Bernie is looking to have 20 next year. Also, I thought Abu Dhabi was supposed to come in 2009 when the deal was made, or did I miss something more recent?

There will be 19 GPs next year ( 99 % sure ) and the max number of GPs in one year is 20 ( they can't have more than 20 in a year because the F1 teams don't want more than that , it was part of the agreament when they signed the new rule book ) . So from 2009 , if they want more races , they will have to take out some of the old ones ( but there is also another way to do this , some countrys could have F1 races every two years ) .

The Concorde Agreement allows for a max of 20 races in an F1 season. That is open for negotiation with Bernie Eccelstone though I'd say. An advance or extra TV money would increase interest in extra races. I think Valencia should take over Barcelona and drop Barcelona totally, its a crappy circuit for racing (Albeit an awesome testing circuit) I wish Monaco would be dropped, but that wont happen. Suzuka I want to see back, and the Abu Dubai circuit sounds very interesting so Im very much looking foward to it.

As for too many races? I dont think so, the more races the more excitement!

20 races is perfect in my book. The sad thing about that is eventually the US GP will be taken off the schedule in favor of places F1 is more excepted :(.

I Dunno about the US GP. Yes, in the end I can see it might stay on, but look at what happened after 2005, they said there may not be a renewal of contract. In 2006, there was one, but only for one year, meaning THAT contract ends this year. It all depends on how well F1 rebounds from 2005. From last year's race, I'd say it'd do pretty well, which is why I think it shouls stay, but nothing's for certain...

The more races the better. 20 races in the year, 2 week breaks between all, except a longer break in the summer for drivers and teams to relax. That's how I'd like it to be. The spacing between races seems to random currently.

Actually, 20 races with a 2 week break between them would mean ......... NO summer brake for the teams (40 weeks of race means GPs from march to november). Maybe have a week between close GPs like Barcelona and Monte Carlo.

I think 18-19 races per season is a good amount. It will keep the fans happy and give teams some time to develope.

This season has only 16 races and we've had breaks of 3 and 4 weeks already after 4 races.

wtf? how can there be too many races?

If it were up to me, I would cut the winter break and testing in half, and have 25-30 races 8)

AND it would save money. Look at Honda, used all those miles winter testing, and made a car slower than last years....

F1 drivers and teams have a job to fufil, just like most of us do. Work isn't supposed to fit in with people's personal leisure time.

Has any of you ever raced in a car at 200 mil/hour? You think it's easy ?I will tell you, some of them are not even paid for what they do, WTH? Do you know the risks they must face every week on the track, do you know that any lap could be theire last lap ? Do you ?20 GPs every year is enough.

noboy forces them to be in F1. they CHOSE to be there, so they must accept the risk. Plus, how is it safer to race every 2 weeks, than every week? the risk is the same, whether they race every weekend or every 5th weekend....

It's not that. GOD, how can I make you understand? When your driving such a car, you are always on the edge because if your not, well, chances are you are going to slow, and believe me, it's an efort beyond you imagination to stay on the edge for one hour and 30 minutes, now that's hard.

yes mate im not stupid....i know how hard it is for a driver to push, but wtf has that got to do with anything? its not like they are doing a GP then go straight to the next one....they have a week or 2 to recover (which is why testing should be a good bit cut) if any driver cant handle it they shouldnt be there....

i have to agree with kalais, and besides that the max races in one season will probably be 20, so whats the harm in 2 more races

I am with you guys, 20 races a season (that's what I said), but not more (there was a guy that said it would be cool to race all year). After all, pilots are also humans, not machines (and they actually test around 5 times more then they race, that is simply to much, WTH? ). I want 20 races a season (and we will have them) but nothing more (for the good of the drivers).

yeh ok i can see where ur coming from now, but i still say if we cut the 5 month winter break to 2-3 months, and cut testing dramatically, we could have more than 20 races. Believe it or not, it may be safer because IIRC the FIA dont provide medical assistance at tests, while they do at races ....

Guys, great news, Suzuka will be back next year. Check on the internet F1 Pacific GP, that's the name it will use, cool. The new Japan GP will take place on the Fuji Speedway (mount Fuji). Valencia Street circuit will be the European GP and there will be a total of 19 races in total.

They haven't yet, they just add/remove races and then we find out the provisional calendar about October-ish? (can't remember) anyways, main ones so far are:

ADDED:
Valencia Street Race [Pending on Spanish Elections]
Singapore Night Street Race

REMOVED:
France [I forgot, during the winter months they removed this from 2008]

So as it stands, I make it we have 18 for next year. Still got plenty of time for changes though

Contract for that is for 2009. Loads of people seem to think 2008, but I haven't heard anything official about it possibly being in 2008, so I still think we're gonna have to wait til 2009 sadly :(
