Big in Japan, it's very common for a popular game to get a soundtrack CD (or an inspired Music CD) based of that game. I know that some people do tend to collect these. I'm curious, has anyone here bought any such CDs?

I pick them up when I see them, and enjoy them, but I don't go out of my way to get them. One of my favorites was the soundtrack for Jet Grind Radio. They are not so much very available in the states (In my experience).

Not really. I have some - mainly ones that have come with games or I've got as freebies over the years, but I don't think I'd ever go out of my way to buy one.

Nope not at all, the only one I have is the Super Smash Brothers Meele soundtrack which came free with a Nintendo Magazine I got. Has most of the songs from the game on it.

Not really, I never really notice Video Game Music, but sometime's when it's so good, I wish I can get some soundtracks, but honestly, I doubt I ever will, I don't even collect CDs, I just get one's I like and that's very rare, which is wierd since... I collect Movie Tickets and Comic Book's.

Same here, with the exception of the Vice City soundtrack, which I bought on clearance and have never opened.

heck yes, I have several of the Final Fantasy(big surprise there) soundtracks, including FF VII with several different ones. The piano collection of songs is awesome.

I also listen to gaming music on my PSP and on GamingFM.com

I've got a few. Castlevania: SotN, Megaman Legends, and a slew of Final Fantasy soundtracks.

I have several of the Final Fantasy ... The piano collection of songs is awesome.

Paully3433

I HIGHLY recommend 20020220 Music from Final Fantasy which is music from FF1 through FF10 performed by a symphony orchestra (absolutely stunning). And the Black Mages stuff: The Black Mages, The Skies Above, and Darkness and Starlight. The Black Mages do rock and roll covers of Final Fantasy music. (Paully, I know you already commented in my blog post about this, but this is a PSA for everyone else :P)

Sticking with this topic. Here is a website with a ton of soundtracks on mp3 format. They also have midis and FMV and such.Of course you should have these to download them, kinda like ROMs and stuff. Good selection and quality, which also pushes up the size of each file. Worth a look if you like music....

I used to, but ever since I became a lot more knowledgeable about the web, my enthusiasm for collecting them completely sunk.

I might have a few, I got the one with Digital Devil Saga 2 collector's edition (PAL) but I never opened it, I got the first couple Black Mages albums (AWESOME :D) Probably just the ones that come free with some games though tbh.

I love game music, but if I've paid for the game and therefore the sound on the discs I bought, so I technically think it's ok to not buy the soundtracks legally, though I guess the money would benefit the composers directly... I'm not actually sure how much though, I worked in music for years and studied music business but soundtracks in this context I'm not quite sure how much the composers would benefit from the CD releases, I guess it's an interesting area to look into though. If you care though that is heh :D

I have quite a few of them, most of them included with the games or were pre-order/special bundle bonuses. Other than that, I think I've only bought one.

I got MGS1,2 and 4 soundtracks. I love listening to them, and sometimes they are downright funny (such as Resident Evil Survivor on PS1 - the zombie dance remix).
