The avatar in my comment still looks like the GameSpot logo.

Even from the redesigtn, I could never get my article-commenter avatar to not look like the GameSpot logo.
I think it might just be an old bug.

I'm on Firefox 24.0 now, Windows 8 64 bit.

It's been doing that with a previous avatar you've had for a long time. For example, there's an avatar I stopped using months ago, but it still shows as my avatar within the comments section. So, yeah, it is an old bug.
