Please stop the forced automatic playing of videos in your articles. At least give us the option to turn off automatic playing of videos like so many other websites.

Yeah, I've tried requesting this before too. No luck. Finally hunted around and found this Chrome browser extension that more or less fixes the problem of autoplay for at least the browser that I use.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/disable-html5-autoplay/efdhoaajjjgckpbkoglidkeendpkolai?hl=en

It can be just a touch finicky at times with certain sites, but well worth it IMO for not having the autoplay video cancer happening on Gamespot and other sites that are rude enough to force spam you with videos while you're browsing rather than politely presenting videos and letting you click on the ones that actually interest you.

@Jedi-Kermit: Yo! This is still an issue! I'm on a desktop. Not some phone or tablet.

this has been complained about for years and gamestop still refused to stop it, it gotten so bad cause other sites do this, that FF has hidden option to STOP autoplay search about:config for "media.autoplay.enabled." set it to false

chrome is gona add function to stop this too soon http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/chrome-finally-adding-autoplay-video-blocking-ability-mute-entire-sites/ and i bet when these function become on be defualt gamespot will cry " our setting " are breaking there site. cause such setting might break the player as noted here https://www.ghacks.net/2015/06/11/finally-mozilla-adds-working-html5-video-autoplay-blocking-to-firefox/

I know that you want money from advertisers. If I decide to see the video I'll mute the advertisement, ignore it, and resume to the content.

Used to love Gamespot. Now gamespot is hot garbage. Auto play videos just add to the pile.

@madness808: We'll have a feature in QA right now that will address this. Trying to get it out the door asap!

any joy yet?
I've been using the site for probably over a decade and this is putting me off.

If I'm on my phone, it stops any music playing.

If I'm casting to the tv it interrupts the cast

can't be that difficult to switch autoplay off....

@bobasweat: We have the feature for desktop (if you're signed in, you'll see a switch to turn autoplay off) - mobile version still in the works.
