Or, in general. Autoplaying videos is poor practice and frowned upon by just about every good web designer. You startle your users and remind them that they had their speakers turned up way too loud. Let your end users click play. They're quite capable of doing that on their own.

This site has never cared about good design. If they did, they would have dropped the infinite scroll-style pages as soon as everyone complained about them. They only started autoplaying videos because they figured out how to get around some ad blockers (for now).

@tsunami2311: Like this. Adblockers/filters can do more than just block ads.

@pongley: I could do that but I Gamespot wants us NOT to use ablock, yet does things that makes want to use it.

To this date Gamespot is the only website I come to that has endless issue with "ablockers"

Either way thanks for the tip that crap of autospooling more articles at bottom of the page annoyed me to no end.

Now it only they can sorta out there "issue" with adblockers so the video player that has quality setting works with ad blockers enabled, which I doubt will ever happen, but hey atlest they finally have html5 support videos actual work now on the site considering I refused to install flash anymore

You don't have to use the ad-blocking features to use custom filters. Just don't enable/turn off any of the 3rd party ones. The only advert I block on the site is the full size background one, because it squashes the articles.

yah i dont care what website i go to adblocker is used, just cause the "site" is legit and safe dont mean the ad be provided by 3d party companies to those sites as complete safe, forget get about fact with ad left enabled this site load alot slow and ads here tend to auto play audio and some time videos..

I never had issue with Videos not play on gamespot when ablockers were enabled till the site redesign some 5+ years ago?? since then endless issue mostly cause how they made it so if certian ad is block videos wont work cause they linking them as dependency.

With out adblocker this site can connector to 20-40 + different domains....
