Nobody would understand what LDER meant; OFFCR still makes some sense.

But why does there need to be an abbreviation?OFFCR just sounds down right stupid. If they can fit Leader in they can fit officer in as well.

Perhaps there's a width or character count restriction of some kind?  The word "officer" is about 5% wider than "leader", with the Arial size 12 font, hardly anything.  At the smallest possible with the highest readability (characters 3 pixels wide by 5 tall with one pixel white space at maximum), "officer" would be about 26 pixels and "leader" as 24, still hardly a difference (a mere 8%).  I don't see any reason for it to be abbreviated.  "Moderator" or "administrator", however, are better off abbreviated as these words are 80% wider.

We never had a badge that said, "officer". It use to be a purple "mdd" badge, then changed to "offcr".
