I've loved Gamespot for as long as I've loved games. I've always admired the personality that comes through in the reviews and videos from the staff and the hard work they put into the site. It has even been my homepage for as long as I've had a computer.
However, over the past 7 or so years of fidelity I've grown tired and frustrated of problems with features of the site. Namely, the image viewer and the video players. I know that running a website of this scale isn't easy, and I don't even know if this will ever garner any sort of attention from any users, let alone Gamespot tech staff, but I am truly fed up with these issues that don't seem to appear on most websites of this size and demographic.
1. Image viewer- I can't remember the last time I've been on a website with individual pages for every single image. Some may like it, but I simply disagree and think it is obtuse to leave this system without update.
2. Video player- When it comes to online video watching, Youtube is typically seen as the ideal. It functions well, plays with impressive quality, and has been perfected over the years since its inception. Obviously a site like Youtube has vast resources and focuses solely on the streaming of videos, but even other websites seem to get a hold of systems similar to that of youtube. Even a cheap Korean porn site seems to have a better video player than this site.
Other than some technical disagreements I have with the site, I am an avid lover of Gamespot and all it has to offer, but as a consumer I will demand a superior product until I get it or have to switch to a superior site to do so.
Sorry if I have offended anyone or have used improper jargon when referring to site features. Feel free to ask me about any details or correct me.
