I've noticed in System Wars lately, as I'm scrolling through a topic, within a minute or two it will start to get very very laggy and eventually pretty much freezes. The computer starts to become unresponsive. I can no longer scroll or type after a while, and the cursor doesn't respond to what it's over. This is only on Gamespot, all other pages work fine. I usually don't have other tabs or applications open.

I'm having this issue on both my home and work computer

I've been experiencing it using Firefox on my iPhone. No problems on computers though.

@wcarle I've received some PMs about this as well. GS does this to me in Linux now, but that - I presumed - was due to forcing an outdated flash plugin to run. Sounds like the issue is present on other platforms

I tend to experience the same issue on one particular computer that has Firefox's hardware acceleration turned off (otherwise my display driver will crash). I don't see issues with other computers, although I may want to twiddle the settings a bit on those and see if this can be reproduced. Just a thought.

@xantufrog: Thanks for the report, we're looking into it. It may be a problem with a flash ad on the site, trying to hunt it down and kill it now.

@wcarle: Just got an unresponsive script error in Firefox on the main forum page for: http://www.gamespot.com/forums/:4

Figured that might narrow things down a little.

Having same issue does not matter what page, video I am watching it freezes up and basically crashes Firefox and chrome. I have looked into everything and GameSpot is the only site this happens. Just started a week ago. Did you update the php? My site just did and it would cause problems.

@Darkangel2154: We found a bad Flash ad yesterday and had it pulled. That said, @Darkangel2154 I'm not sure what would be causing the issues you are describing. Are you saying the video itself freezes, or the entire page? Could you give us examples of the pages/videos you're having trouble with? And are you on Windows or Mac?

Having this exact issue and I'm not sure what it is. Using Chrome with windows 10. I have an i7 6700, GTX 970 SLI with 16GB of ram and SSD with no issues with any other sites.

I was having some issues recently but I haven't since updating my video drivers. I was mostly effected in Chrome, not just here, but YouTube videos were out of sync, and my system was getting slower, problems too when booting up from sleep nothing was responsive. Updating video drivers did wonders.

@Darkangel2154: This should have been resolved at this point. We found some bad code in the actual ad server that was causing it (sigh), but it seems to be behaving well now. I haven't been able to reproduce any slowness. If you see it again, could you tell us what page exactly you were on when you saw it?

It's back. I think it was better the past week, but I'd say it's even worse now. Starts to get very laggy and then freezes. I use chrome at both home and work.

@drummerdave9099: Yep, you're right - it was the same issue. We pulled the offending vendor's code off the site, and have set fires under the relevant butts to get it fixed. Thanks for flagging it!
