Gamespot running slow

The speed and stability of GS site, I'm not surprised that its popularity has gone down in the past year

Nobody wants to use a site that is slower than 75% of the web and has the one of the worst Flash-based video players on the web; Why select HD videos when it doesn't properly scale videos at full screen?

I've been a GS user for almost a decade and my engagement has decreased over the years, the current site issues is basically the final nail in the coffin for me.

Sidenote: It took 13 seconds (of "waiting for www.gamespot.com" in the status bar) for the insert link frame (a total size 2.3 kB; 0.9 kB for the frame and 1.4 kB for the javascript file) to load when I went to insert the link above

I have an awesome connection and this is the only site that loads slow.

yeah I noticed the site loading inanely slow before the forums started disapearing.

Omg it's nearly impossible to get around in this site now all I get is bonk/oops every 2 pages or so...

So. Many. Glitches.

By Tom Mcshea's standards, this is a solid 4.0 site due to being broken.

This morning you might notice some even further slower loading times as we have about 6 people working with the servers. We thank you all for your support and patience in the meantime.

I've also had plenty of problems trying to navigate unions to the past couple weeks. It's been taking me 3 or 4 attempts to even get to the home page.

504's and Bonks all over the place, still.

The site seems to be a lot faster tonight, but the bonk error is still a problem.

I'm getting 504 errors every time I try to open my collection, and have been for almost a week now. This is making the site pretty much unusable at this point. I've tried in multiple browsers as well, from multiple machines in my house. And this is the only site I'm having issues with, so I don't think it's my connection.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if my wishlist size is in fact directly related to the issue at the moment. One of the reasons I've been trying to get into it actually is to purge everything and start fresh. Hah. I'll keep at it. Though I do still have the issue with the list of games that I own, which is considerably smaller.danawhitaker

Been trying to post a blog and HTTP 408/409 Server Busy appearing alot, same goes with posting comments on other people's blogs and on forum pages. Some of my lose friends on Gamespot have left due to these problems :(

Don't know if I'm being off-topic but I had the 500 Internet Server Error when I try to go to a union's board, try 2 of the unions that I'm a part of and it's always that same error. Been like this for 2 hours and 11 minutes. Is it possible to fix that?

yea they did some maintenence yesterday that fvcked some things up. some people lost some posts, blogs dissapeared, cant get into your posting history. BONK! server errors. stuff like that.

ive just recently got my blogs back and such.

still cant check my post history, says i havent contributed anything to the forums.

but yea, the site is still sluggish.

Yep, I can't seem to access any of my unions either. Considering I need to post a fair bit of details in the one I lead over the next few days, kinda annoying that I haven't been able to get on for a good 3/4 hours now.

The problem is, it's not just a few days (annoying but eventually it gets sorted). I've been having these issues with GameSpot for over a month now (Both of my previous two union games - the last one in July and one running now - have been affected by it), and it's beyond unacceptable. Yes, I'm a free member and no, it's not my right to have this place working perfect 100% of the time (I wouldn't expect it to either), but for these issues to be happening for over a month now is incredibly tedious.

I'm leaving my position as leader in a few months on my union, due to other commitments in life and being unable to continue my duties on the union, but now another part of me wants to go just because of the longevity of this issue, which is sad given I've used this website almost constantly for six years now.
