They'll pay for this kind of lazy coding by losing site visits. They could've easily implemented an informative page asking to please disable ad-block for gamespot.com, but they didn't bother. Users just see a goobledegook error and go to IGN.

@cjtopspin: Yep. I switched off my Adblock on Opera and the site started to work again. As soon as I switched it back on, I started to get the same 503 error.

Very disappointed with GameSpot. I've been a regular visitor for 20 YEARS! I don't think I'll bother with their site anymore.

Considering how horrid this site looks even WITH ads “blocked”, I think I’m done here.

I just turned off the ad blocker and this site is garbage. Combine that with all the off topic movie and wrestling shit. Why even come here anymore? This shit has been slowly swirling the drain for years.

Bye.

Yeah requiring these obnoxious ads is too much. Half my screen is filled with ads when I just want to read. I think I'm done here. The fact that it doesn't even give a proper message that states that adblock is causing the issue is also dumb.

Goodbye, have fun with this site. Maybe if they reverse this decision I'll come back. Shame too, I actually liked this site.

I've been having this same issue for the last few days in Chrome as well. Turning off AdBlock for the site did not fix it, nor did trying incognito mode. Also tried clearing all cookies for the site, no go. Works fine in Firefox, but fails in Chrome across all my PCs, regardless of whether I was logged in or not.

The article will briefly flash on screen before the error pops up about the certificate.

Currently running Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Win 7

Amazing. Well now I know where not to come anymore.
