Formula One Championship Edition is a disappointing racing game that doesnt make the finish line.

Formula One Championship Edition is a mediocre racing game exclusive to the Playstation 3. Having been the first Formula One game released on the Playstation 3, racing gamers had high hopes that the game would be a success and a well and truly brilliant game replicating the authenticy of the real life circuit. However I think the game was not of the standards a Playstation 3 exclusive should be and was really undeveloped.

The gameplay has good and bad aspects. The graphics are visually okay as you drive continuously around the track, in which the tracks are that of the real life circuit. The teams also include official cars of the season and this this as a good feature because it offers racers a more authentic driving experience. Driving is considerably fun WHEN you get the hang of it and at the times it is a great feeling to hold the lead in an important race, make sharp turns and driving at scintilating speeds. Also a really nice feature to have in the game is the option to change the amount of laps in a race, this offers plenty of more fun as you can then set the distance of your race to how it suits your playstyle.

Although unfortunately, as the heading gives it away, there are plenty of bad points in the game aswell which hinder the games possible potential. Driving can beincredibly awquard for peoples first racing experience. Formula One's driving mechanics are not the best and this can cause plenty of frustration, especially if you have literally won the race, until you slide off of the track because of an unexpected tight corner. The driving aid, an option whihc can be turned on or off, is also pretty awquard to follow as it hasn't been finely tuned and therefore results in some turns and driving being off the mark of what it should be. Damage effects on cars are shockingly poor. As an example - you can drive into a head on collision wih another car or a barrier and still come out unscathed. The only known damage of a car is the occasional wheel sliding off, which wasn't particularly done in the most realistic of ways.

Unfortunately aswell the game is hard to get accustomed to, once you do become adapted to the racing style and it can become really to easy and not much of a test. This is because of the Driver AI. It is absolutely terrible and you might as well be racing yourself because once you have the lead it is hard not to win, unless another unfortunate 'hiccup' in the game happens. Cars do not make any difference to a race whatsoever. You may be racing for red bull and come up against a ferrari and yet the worst car can still always come out on top. This is extremely unrealistic and really does make a difference to a race.

Season Mode at times is ridiculous. There isn't much to offer in ters of what is accomplishable, except the fact you can go to a race every week. The worst point to pick out though is that you could go through a whole season and win every race, yet the next season the big well known teams still dont recognise any of your potential. This can become increasingly frustrating and extremely discouraging to your overall performance during the racing season.

Overall Formula One Championship Edition is a mediocre driving experience, one which will easily be forgettable in the forseeable future.
