One of the best turn-based games in existance, SSB fighter Marth's debut also!

User Rating: 9 | Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Tsurugi NES
Graphics: The game is set up in an overhead view. If you ever played any of the Gundam, Conflict, etc strategy games for the NES, you'll get the idea of what this looks like. During a battle, the background is black, and the two characters run at eachother. Some of the effects look pretty good, but aren't anything to drool over.

Sound/Music: There's really no sounds except for selections, movements and attacking. The music is quite nice to listen to, each song that plays fits every situation it's played in. There's even a song that plays when the enemy has only one person left.

Difficulty: Really there's no behind-the-game difficulty in this except some enemies have a higher level and/or more life. Most of the game is based on your brain; if you are good at planning, using strategy and such, you'll pretty much have no problem. If you have issues dying a lot, may I suggest checkers and/or chess? It would improve your strategy skills.

Gameplay: Basically you take control of Prince Marth and his army, and attempt to end oppression from the enemy troops. Your rebelling army includes archers, horsemen (some horses fly!), simple knights and so on. Once you finish off the enemies, you must take Marth, move him to the castle in the map and then select the command "Take". Once you do so, you've completed the level. Each map is different and has a varity of elements such as mountains, hills, water, etc. Sometimes the game will get so in depth later, you may want to think about writing down different formations and plan ahead before you just jump into the battle. That will get you killed in a flash.

Controls: There's nothing really you do, other than move a cursor around, and use the A button to select troops and commands.

Overall: Although it's in Japanese, you can learn it! A wonderful strategy game and the start of an awesome series. If you like war and like to think, this is one for you.
