The original but not necessarily the best in the series

User Rating: 7.5 | Final Fantasy PSP
If you are looking for the original experience then it is here and better than ever. It has updated graphics that bring the action into a semi modern age.

Gameplay- Its classic and thus very difficult but that doesn't mean its not fun. the challenge is exciting and level grinding is fun because the monsters vary across fields and dungeons alike. Its basic but it is truly addictive as you begin to acquire new spells and level up

Graphics- You wont find any flash here though, the animations may be upgraded to include smoother textures and more vivid colors but the animations are the same. Simple, clean, and quick is the best way to describe it. If graphics have derailed you from experiencing this epic adventure then look no further, as it is the best looking edition of final fantasy across console, PC, and hand-held.

Sound- nothing compares to the score of final fantasy and some of the tunes have even been redone for this edition to sound more orchestrated and less synthetic. Once again as far as FF remakes go, this is best in show

Complaints- classes are limited and paths don't really branch out for those classes, but its the first and expectations should not be measured against later installments of final fantasy. The story is fairly broken, as the plot often seems unexplained an undirected. This is due to a lack of proper NPC instruction, and no journal to remember duties, as well as a lack of a world map to consult. You will get lost and you will reload your save in frustration. You will also wipe frequently, but grinding can always solve this

Overall if you want to play the original, play it on PSP. Not only will you enjoy it but through the PSP you get the best remake yet. Just don't expect this to be FFVII
