When I think of the greatest RPGs of all time three games come to mind. Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy 7, and Final Fantasy 8. With Final Fantasy 7 being so good I wondered if it were possible that Final Fnatsy 8 could be just as good. But as usual, the Final Fantasy series provaled and made another instant classic with Final Fantasy 8. You start off as Squall, a student at the Garden, a military academy. Three of your classmates are Zell, Seifer and Selphie. Seifer and Squall don't like each other. In fact, at the beginning cinematic you'll see Squall and Seifer fighting. With the help of Quistis, your teacher at the Garden, Squall, Zell, and Selphie are hired to do combat jobs for money in the SeeD. Seifer joins you on your first mission in SeeD, but he will not be in your group during the game. He will be an enemy. Later on Quistis will join your group of Squall, Zell and Selphie. Then you will meet a girl named Rinoa, and meet her a second time when you help her on a mission. That's when she will join your party. There's kind of a love story between Squall and Rinoa during the game. This does not hurt the game in any way, it actually helps with the story. Lastly, your final main character that you'll get is Irvin, but you'll meet him later. After a good amount of time is put into the game, you'll learn about the evil Sorceress Edea. She seams like the main villain, but their's a twist later on in the game. The graphics are a very good improvement from FF7. The backgrounds and enviorments are still great, but the big improvement is the characters. The characters look more like humans in FF8 while in FF7 they had big heads and plates for eyes. The clothes are more detailed and the overall appearance is just better. The gameplay is basically the same as FF7. You and the enemy go bath and forth fighting each other and a meter tells you when you can attack. The magic and summons are a slight change from FF7. There is no materia for magic. There are these small glow spots where you can draw magic from it. Also the summons have special abilities like your character's magic or HP going up. Also the more familiar a summon is with a certain character, the better it does in battle with that certain person. The music in Final Fnatsy 8 has outdone itself. Nobuo Uematsu comes back for FF8. When I heard the opening theme for this game, I got goosebumps. I knew I was in for another Final Fantasy game with some of the best music in video games. Personally, out of all the music in Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy 8 beats out Final Final Fantasy 7, just by a little, as my favorite. So in the end, Final Fantasy 8 goes above and beyond just like all the other Final Fantasy games.Great gameplay, graphics, and music make this another classic. This game is one of the best RPGs ever and should be in all RPG lover's households. So in the end Final Fantasy 8 is another amazing Final Fantasy game and one of the best games ever!
