Hmmmm final fantasy 8 its hard to say what went wrong i might as well just say this ff8 fails on many levels its predessesors got right. the most dissapointing thing about 8 is the character designes even tho they have there moments they are boreing! yes thats right an rpg with rubbish characters makes things difficult from the start while 8 does have some well thought out and intresting ideas such as a gunblade a weapon thats half gun half sword thats really the best thing about it. when it comes to gameplay ff8 is pretty similar to ff7 that it has turn based battles summons ect but has completely abandoned any idea of mini games like the bike chase scene or the snowboarding of ff7 just makeing the game that much less intresting strangely ff8 allso forgets the to use fight system and decides to relie on a very boring slow paced system of junctioning.graphicly ff8 really shines and few psx games can compete but while the character models are a huge improvment on ff7 the backrounds lack any real flair an example in ff7 you might see a forest path with the sun glowing through the trees but while 8 does have some impressive areas the usual sight is an alley or a room with a desk .but while on the hole ff8 failes to really impress graphicly its out of this world FMV is breathtaking very often involving action thats well done and rarely waists any FMV on pointless moments. now we come to the final step the story now dont get me wrong ff8 has a better story then most rpg's but after the emotional story by ff7 it really fails to keep you intrested focusing mainly on romance instead of good plot ff8 simply fails to live up to its really cool intro.
