What a game!

User Rating: 9.5 | Final Fantasy VII PS
Final Fantasy VII.
Blocky polygons. Amazing Music. Great story for those willing to gain understanding. I keep playing it and have yet to tire. Sure I take a break once in a while for other games, but no game has ever captured my imagination like this one.
It's not perfect. I may be a minority, but I am not a huge fan of the language in some instances, nor do I really like the whole Don Corneo episode's presentation, but on the whole this game take me back to the good times. I have learned to love every Final Fantasy game for what they are (main series, minus XI) and this one is one of my favorites.
Graphics: They don't hold up quite as well as when I first popped the game in back in 1997, but they do the job. It's more of an artistic thing for me. If they ever do the remake, I hope it stays true to the feel of the art, maybe just an HD upgrade, along with a polygon upgrade...
Sound and Music: Sit back and relax. Very moving pieces. My opinion echoes that of people around the world. Amazing and moving.
Control: Moving around maps can be a bit frustrating at times, but manageable. Battle control is very quick and precise.
Replayability: Well. Everytime I beat this game, I give it a rest. But I always come back and once I get back into the story and the drama gets going it's hard to stop playing.
Appeal: Depends on who you are. There are sometimes this game really speaks to me. More than any movie or book at times. Following Cloud and company on this adventure brings up a lot of thoughts and feelings. I think perspective is key. I always love a game that shows characters overcoming personal issues and becoming better not just for themselves but for humanity. Saving the world is nice too.
Conclusion:
Great game if you can find it. Ebay has some pretty expensive copies. I thought mine was worth the over $50 that I paid for it. A remake/revision/or re-release would be nice to allow more people to experience this story.
