A video game movie that is actually good. Square Enix has done it right!

User Rating: 9.8 | Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children PSP
When video games try to port themselves to films or books they just end up as a joke (eg. Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Sonic The Hedgehog and the past Final Fantasy movies), and just gives you the impression that video game characters and franchises should just stay as games, however Final Fantasy VII Advent Children proved that some games, with the correct working out, can make a good movie.

Story: 2 years have passed since the destruction of meteor and Midgar. The planet was on a recovery stage from the great damage Shinra (an electric company of great power at that time) caused. However many lives have been lost that day 2 years ago and many orphans drift the streets, on top of that a new disease known as Geostigma emerged and has infected many people, notably children. What will happen to the people of the planet? Is Geostigma a sign of the planet’s anger on the people? It is for fate to decide.

Plot: The movie takes place 2 years after the game Final Fantasy VII (For the Playstation and PC). In the movie you will see the world of Final Fantasy VII presented in beautiful details and you will recognise some of the places you have been to in the movie.
All the characters from the game such as Cloud Strife, Tifa, Barret and the others are remade in the movie and they all look a lot better here than in the CG movies seen in Final Fantasy VII.

Sound: For the first time ever we hear Cloud’s and the other’s voices. All characters have been given the right voice actors as well as the right attitude and personalities. (Not like the Legend of Zelda where Link gets cocky).
The music is also well illustrated with some tracks you may recognise from the game and great sound effects.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children will greatly appeal to fans, and unlike the last Final Fantasy movies, this one will least likely to disappoint you, there is a deep plot put in it with really nice fighting styles and presentation. Even those who are not familiar with Final Fantasy will appreciate the movie’s style and might find themselves interested into playing the original game (That’s how I got into the Final Fantasy universe).
The Movie is only available on DVD and PSP. The movie is for all ages and is highly recommendable.
