A Treasure that Unlocked RPG's of Today
Every character had a story to be told. The Villains were sensational, Kefka despite appearing somewhat clownish at times was never a bad guy with a soft spot. He was all evil, in his lust for power. The heroes showed flaws in their individuality. Celes was at constant odds with being the product of magical engineering, serving her empire, and protecting the ones she came to care for. Terra's struggle to find who she was in the world of Esperes, and Humans. Every Character that contributed to the plot was a delight. Even the great General Leo a classic character one between duty, and moral judgement.
The Music as i said was stirring to say the least. To the melodramtic overtones, to the Grand finale' with Kefka every piece was beautifully rendered to the 16 bit system. I do suggest downloading or buying the ochestral works they are fantastic.
The plot was at the time and even today wonderful. Honestly id give it quite a "Star Wars" esq feel to it. There is an inside joke many times with final fantasies involving the likes of "Biggs" and "Wedge" in the movie they were friends of "Luke Skywalker." Everything from the Kingdom of Figaro playing Ally to the Empire but working wth rebels, to the magic infused knights ala Jedi hah. However it is only likened on a broad scale the story is quite unique within the meat of it.
I can honestly say this is one of my top games ever and my favorite Final Fantasy to date. I do suggest picking it up if you enjoy RPG's or are old school like me.
