Guess what happens when you add boring plot and frustrating gameplay?

User Rating: 6 | Hikari no 4 Senshi: Final Fantasy Gaiden DS
Since i was a boy, I aways thought that a game was supposed to do two things: make you want to play it, and to be enjoyable. A game with a lot of bugs and glitches that have an amazing plot can still be a great game despite the glitches, simply because the plot is THAT good.

Some games, however, are flat out boring and give no reason to beat it aside for the fact that the poor gamer just wasted a good amount of their hard earned cash on it. It's the case of Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light.

Graphics
Good graphics for a ds game but VERY cartoonish. It depends on your tastes, a lot of people will find the style very cute, and many other will find it annoying.

Music
Final Fantasy was once a franchise know for it's awesome music. Terra theme, To Zanarkand, One Winged Angel, songs that still roam through our mind. The music in 4 Heroes is simply forgettable. Not even the classic FF battle ending fanfare is present.

Story
Boring and outdated. It's the same old story about 4 random people that, for some reason, are chosen by crystals to save the world. Others FF already had the same plot and did it better. The plot forces a lot of break-ups, and the beginning is really slow paced, making the game really boring. The characters are bland and uninteresting.

Gameplay
Each character have 5 action points to spend on actions , like Attack or Cure, and you gain abilities based o which Crown you wear. The action point battle system fails because you can't choose which enemy you will target. This detracts a LOT from strategy. The Crowns are just a re-fluffed job system that isn't outright bad, but again, is something that others FFs already had, and it was much better.

Overall
Square Enix tried to make an old-style FF, but missed the mark. The gameplay is frustrating, the music is bland, the characters are shallow and the plot not only was already done before, but is also slow paced.

Everything seems like a bad ripoff from FFV, which also had class system, and the same crystal-based save-the-world plot, but did everything much better.
