Unmatched tactics gameplay. Great Story.

User Rating: 10 | Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou PSP
This iteration of Final Fantasy Tactics remains the best classic-style tactics title perhaps ever.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of Lions is the perfected version of the PS1 classic.* Let's do this history in a few short words: Okay, the Tactics Ogre team make the best tactics game ever, then they trump themselves and make FFtactics on PS1. Wonderful game, however, the potentially great story is ruined by bad translation and convolution. Still, the gameplay is an unmatched upgrade of the Tactics Ogre formula. Even today, tactics fans will not find a better classic "Grid-on-a-Slab" formula game.

Flash forward. Square Enix takes the old bird out. Dusts her off. Polishes up everything and drastically improves the accessibility of this wonderful storyline. 3d sprites and the animations are amazing! The soundtrack is amazing too, done by that fella Sakimoto who did FFXII, Odin Sphere, and Valkyria Chronicles - great work.

*flaw: There is one flaw in the PSP version, the casting text is gone, and there is an awkward slow-down in the game when casting spells or using special skills. This appears whether playing from UMD or Mem Stick. I played through and didn't mind it.
