Although this may be where your fantasy will start. It surly isn’t the best by far.
Besides that, once you brush away the dust from the surface of the game your left with a very shallow story for FF1, and a some what shallow story in FF2. This is not helped by the fact the monsters in this game are hard. Very very hard. You’ll be finding yourself backtracking quite abit just to stop and lvl up your people so you can be on par with random encounter monsters.
Yes this game s Very old, Yes I probably shouldn’t be nitpicking such things because the games is truly an aged painting. But its very hard not to point out such things like graphics, story, *lack there of that is*, Shoddy battle system, jobs aren’t balanced at all, sprites beg for like 5 more frames of animation, but sadly squaresoft did not care to re-release this game for the good of the gamer, yet just a way to get money on old success. Im sure they got what they wanted, but the fans begging for the FF3 ds treatment to this game are left looking at a screen playing a game that looks like t came out of paint shop pro.
Should you play this game?
Probably not.
Does it have any redeeming qualities?
Its not so much that it’s a bad game is it is that its just really really old ya know? Nothing you would want to touch at this day in age.
Stick to your big guns. SNES MAN! Let this one just fade away into the realm of forgotten games.
