Even about 20 years later Final Fantasy II or I guess IV still is a joy to play.

I am going to call this game Final Fantasy IV even though I know it can also be called Final Fantasy II. To start things out I did play this game when little, but got stuck early on. The story in Final Fantasy IV is about a dark knight name Cecil who at the beginning questions his kings motives only to find out his king has gone crazy and is going after these crystals that can give him ultimate power. The story stays solid throughout the whole game and kept me playing to find out what happens next.

The combat is for the most part is simple turn base to today's standards except not completely turn base. There is an action bar that once you use an action you have to wait for it to charge up again which for the most part feels like a turn base games because of similar elements such as magic, the ability to run, and the normal attack. Each character feels unique and has a job such as healer, tank, damage dealer, mage and so on. Most weapons for the normal attacks feel the same and most magic does which is expected from a turn base game. I don't expect a weapon to change the gameplay to much besides from a more powerful attack. By the end though I got a little tired of the combat.

The exploring and inventory is a little out dated, but still works out fine. There is no voice acting, but text does the job and its better no voice acting then terrible voice acting. This is due partly to no cutscenes which is expecting out of a game.

Overall Final Fantasy is an amazing game that is still a joy to play and I encourage any fan of RPG's to try it and if you want to play a classic then play it.
