The most realistic football game to date

User Rating: 8 | FIFA 09: World Class Soccer PS3
FIFA has always been slightly behind their rival PES, but since arriving on next-gen systems, FIFA has put last-gen games in the past, and has now made a very realistic football game, despite some frequent troubles.

The player animations during gameplay are one of the games strongest points. From sliding a player, to forcing the goalkeeper to save, the animations are very realistic. However, up close some players don't look like themselves, and actually look strange to look at. There aren't many scenes to see this up close, but ocassionally you might glance Rooney during a celebration, and think "hmm... he looks weird".

There are plenty of teams to choose from, so wherever you are in the world, there will be a team/league available for you to participate in.

During gameplay the ball runs smoothly, passing suitably feels heavy, and shooting is designed well so that the keeper reacts perfectly to the placed effort on goal. One problem though is the dribbling. It is often very hard to make it past a player, which lets down the kind of attributes Messi and Ronaldo have. To get past you could try running around, but even with Rooney (who is physically tough) he seems to get pushed off the ball fairly easily. This then makes it more trouble as the best way is to pass it around players. However the game is still fun never the less, so don't let that stop you experiencing the best football game currently available.
