User Rating: 8.6 | FIFA International Soccer 3DO
The 3DO version of FIFA Soccer is undeniably a well done piece of work. The first impression this game gives to you is that you´ll really get in the stadium to play soccer. Tha game opening is awesome with a very exciting music. The gameplay is one of the best with easy-to-learn button commands. To execute the tricks during a match is harder but not impossible. A nice addition to the series is the possibility to use the "R" and "L" buttons to spin the ball making harder to the goalkeeper defend. The game also allows you to configure your team´s strategy, formation and even substitute a player if you want. A large number of teams make the game enjoyable for a long period with the number of different tournaments to enter such as a World Cup. In the options menu you can set the lengh of the game and a lot of other settings like the weather and cards. The sound is probably the most impressive feature in the game. Great music and neat sound effects such as the crowd cheering which makes you actually feel in the stadium playing a very important game. The graphics are pretty good for a 3DO game, well textured objects such as the soccer field help the game to provide the feeling of reality. The most interesting is that during the break between the first and second half of the game the score board shows video sequences of some of the greatest goals in the history of soccer like when Pelé scored against Italy in the 1970´s World Cup final. The score board also shows animations when any player or the CPU socres. This version of Fifa Soccer really impressive considering 3DO´s capabilities and it has set a standard for soccer games when it came out. Its concept as game lasted for about 4 years and then EA soccer games started to change again once the competitors were also making very good games with new features.
