Simply the best football/soccer simulation game till date!!!
The game features 500+ teams at domestic and international levels. The player animations are very good. Players are richly designed and resemble their real-life counterparts to quite an extent. The crowd is also very good. The noise from the crowd when the Home team scores really drowns out everything else. EA has even made the crowd's booing sound good. The commentary is also very good but you will find it a little repetitive after you have played the game for more than 100 hours like i have.
Another excellent part of the game is the Ea Trax section. The playlist features some awesome songs. Probably the best soundtrack i have heard for any game till now. There are many extra features also including Season Highlights of EPL, German Bundesliga, French Ligue and Italian Serie A. The extra features also include an interview with Barca FC and Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o, a tips and hints section with commentry by Sky Sports very own Andy Gray and a Fifa 06 Retro section which lets you look at a video featuring 10 memorable goals, Fifa Games Retrospective, details of the players from the team Classic XI and you can also play the first Fifa game which is Fifa 94. Its not very good if you played Fifa 06 first.
Another place of interest is the Fan Shop where you can unlock items using the points you gain for completing the more than 100 Fifa 06 Challenges. These locked items include Classic Player Bios, the Classic XI and World XI team for use in Kick Off mode, use of 5 star teams in Manager mode, Stadiums, Celebration Packs for created players and Season Highlights videos mentioned before.
The Fifa 06 Lounge mode is also awesome where you and your friends can battle head-to-head for the top position. You are awarded with cheap shots which help you even out the score between you and your opponent. This new feature is interesting and fun to try out.
I know there are many people out there who will disagree with me and say that the Konami games (Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven) are better but they are wrong. Fifa has always had -and probably always will- better and more realistic gameplay, better career mode, better interaction, better features and definitely better commentry.
EA Sports has taken itself to its vey limits with this game. The game is simply WONDERFUL!!! It will definitely feature 100's of hours of gameplay and even those who are not big fans of "The Beautiful Game" can enjoy this game and will want to start following football, not just as a sport, but as a RELIGION!!!
