Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is simply a fair game to play. All the Ferrari models are beautiful, the engines sounds just perfect and the tracks have good graphic details for its age. But the truth is: the game could be a lot better.
Eutechnyx has made a good graphic job. But, in general, although it corresponds the expected, they could have made it better knowing the power of the PS3. The true graphic sin is the low FPS rates that causes a bad impression sometimes.
The simulation is not as good as we can feel in Xbox 360's "Forza Motorsport 2". It's a good job too but the physics will let you down (just like in "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue"). For example, when there's a collision, there's no sensation of any kind of loss leaving you the impression that's better hit or use the car in front of you to correct the braking timing or when the player leaves the track and hits the wall, the car just stops, spins very little and the car just doesn't leave the ground for anything that could happen. Eutechnyx has not paid attention to those little details that could make the game a lot more fun to play.
The I.A. is really the worst part of the game. Sometimes it's ridiculous and, yes, the I.A. of this game it's stupid. The opponents just don't never realize that the player's car is there don't giving a damn if they throw you off the track or not. I'll realize that when you are braking to make the curve. The opponent seems to throw their car into the player's car to make you go off track. What matters to this I.A. is to be into the right suggested line and doesn't matter if the player is occupying that space or not. That's a downer and make the race less enjoyable. If the I.A. were more refined, this game could be for my own collection and surely it would have received more positive critics.
Well, the soundtrack is amazing - I really love the main menu music - and the menu visual are beautiful and that Bruno Senna's Brazilian Flag in that Ferrari it's just marvelous! Very beautiful colors! This game deserves to be played, mainly because there's no sim racing games enough in PlayStation 3 yet. You can have fun with this one until a better one is released.
