User Rating: 9 | F.E.A.R. PC
F.E.A.R is a level based first person shooter developed by Monlith Productions for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 and is the first installment in the F.E.A.R series. The game is follows a new soldier to the F.E.A.R (First Encounter Assault Recon) Squad who is sent out on a mission with the rest of the Squad to stop an army of cloned supersoldiers, controlled by a man called Paxton Fettel from taking over Armacham Technology Corporation (ATC).

The game starts as you see guards of ATC been slaughtered by Paxton Fettel's men as they plot to take over the company. News is spread about the invasion and the F.E.A.R Squad are sent in to re-take ATC. You, the new soldier are a super soldier who has amazing reflexes, when you use these reflexes it makes you feel like you are playing a Matrix game as bullets fly past you in slow motion. You are sent out with fellow F.E.A.R Squad member Spen Jankowski to stop Fettel but lose his assistance after a short amount of fighting, so you are now alone but you do meet up with people on and off during the game. You are affected by unexplained Hallucinations throughout the game that all center around a young red dressed girl called Alma. Alma is the center piece of the game and you see her many times, trust me these are times you feel most vulnerable through the game, especially when you walk into a room and you see two skeletons on the ground and blood up the walls for their bodies have been ripped apart by Alma by just using her mind. The game is set in many different locations but unfortunately these are always in buildings, back alleys or storage compartments. You don't really go against a massive variety of soldier, you will get to the bog standard soldiers, the heavy soldiers, soldiers in robots, and stealth soldiers, these can go invisible and travel at great speeds, there maybe more I can't remember. Also you will be attacked by human size demons while you are hallucinating but not everytime just every now and then. The game is set in a large city which holds ATC and their many buildings which you will have to over-run and find the leaders of ATC for assisstance. Throughout the game you are after Paxton Fettel to stop him from taking over ATC, you will see him during the game many times but can't do anything to stop as he just turns into dust.

F.E.A.R is a great game to look at as the graphics are stunning, every person you meet throughout the game are visualy amazing and make you feel like they are real. Looking out of windows or off rooftops are the cityscapes is great because you feel alone as you see no one is out on the streets and all the lights in the city are dimly lit.. The AI in the game is amazing, soldiers will shoot at you to put you off as their allies flank you and hit you from behind. The music and FX in the game are brilliant and do their job, you will hear chilling screams and you certainly know something scary is going to happen as you hear chilling music as you are put onto the edge of your seat to try and find whatever it is you are looking for before it finds you.

The thing I loved most about the game was that everycorner you turned you was scared on what was on the otherside, you see something out of the corner of your eye you instantly move back and look for cover but once you have noticed nothing is coming you go out and find out it is nothing.
A big problem I had with the game was thtat there wasn't anything that made you feel lost, you always went in a straight line to your destination, you may get the occasional room that takes you off your path but it isn't difficult to find your way back again.

I haven' t wrote too much about the game and I haven't wrote anything about multiplayer, this is because I haven't been on the multiplayer, but this just gives you an outline of what the game is like. F.E.A.R is a must play game, and if you haven't played it get buying it as it will give a real challenge and it will be a game that you want to complete over and over again.
