'Reborn' is filler, and that's about all you need to summarize it.

You play the whole way through F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin, are left scratching your head thinking, "what happens now?", and then you see that Monolith released a DLC that costs 10 dollars, or 800 points (depending on your system). With modest effort at the most, you blast through the story within an hour, maybe even less if you have the controls down-pat and can find your way through the levels easily. When that is done, you again find yourself thinking, "what happens now?"

That's pretty much the gist of what you will get here. It offers a new perspective to the game universe, putting you in the shoes of a lousy clone (apologies to any actual clones out there!) who goes ape**** (censorship intended) after becoming a puppet for one of the F.E.A.R universe's more memorable characters. You, Foxtrot 813, are then left all alone, no one looking out for your well-being but rather, your bloody demise. All you can do at this point is follow the voice that beckons you, because you are somehow 'different'.

This is basically a condensed version of the original sequel, playing as a different character. There's nothing new, really. You start the game on an explosive note, piloting an EPA and blasting chunks out of concrete, wood, bone, and flesh. That's fun, no question about it, but you will be done with that in a few minutes. A plot twist occurs and that's what sets the story in motion.

Level design is dull for the most part, but that's only until the end point. Things turn for the weird, and that's when the level design is interesting and you want to press on. It does its job of concealing the threats that seek to end your miserable life, but a little too much so. Thankfully, this wasn't as much of a squinting job as Project Origin was (no thanks to the overabundance of dark areas), which brought down my enjoyment of said title somewhat.

A little nitpick I have, even though it is minor, is that the cutscenes are of very poor quality. They do the job when it comes to plot, whatever plot there is to get out of this DLC, but they render at a rather pitiful frame-rate and they look like they're straight out of an early XBOX game.

For the price, it isn't worth it. I think a 5 dollar price tag would have sufficed. If it included any actual new content, rather than a storyline which could have been done easily in a bonus mission for Project Origin, then the 10 dollar price would have been warranted. Sorry Monolith, you didn't include anything intriguing, so it's not worth the money. If you know someone who has the DLC installed, by all means play it there. F.E.A.R 2: Reborn is filler, and that's about all you need to summarize it.
