Fate/Extra is an amazing game with an amazing story that will not bore you from beginning to end.

*NOTE* I've seen a lot of people complain that this game copies the Persona games element which I don't see a similarity the only thing I see is similar is the school system and if that is it then that is a really weak complaint, this game ISN'T anything like Persona (and I LOVE Persona)

I've played a lot games lately and started to get bored with a lot of them too for example I've recently got Assassin's Creed Revelations and the gameplay was the same as Brotherhood so I've felt like nothing was new like it was the same thing just with a little few things added but still got bored with it too. Same with Gears of War 3 and got sorta bored with it. I thought I was losing interest with video games in general but when I got Fate/Extra I immediately feel in love with it. Fate/Extra (yeah that is the name of the games series Fate/---) is one of the best PSP games I've played so far I love this game a lot really the gameplay, the story, the characters, the music it's all just amazing! The Story is pretty Dark not Deep Dark but pretty Dark. The 1st thing you do is play in a prologue as a nameless protagonist and he goes to school and he would always complain about doing the same thing everyday like wake up go to school late wear the same plain school uniform (as well as every other student) see his teacher fall in the same place every single day (no joke) after school goes to his club (journal club I think?) goes home and waits til next day to go back to school and do the same thing over and over again. Now I don't like to spoil games but all I can say is the week that you'll be playing things are going to change (duh) but nothing like you'll ever see before (trust me I've played a lot of games before).
The Gameplay is really run no joke about that. At first I was confused about what to do but I got it the 1st few tries at the battle system. When going to the arena (which are the dungeons) you of course fight against enemies and when fighting enemies the battle system uses what I like to call the Rock-Paper-Scissors
system: there are three basic commands you and your enemy can use Attack-Defend-Break. The reason I call it the Rock-Paper-Scissors system is because the three commands you use is the same; Defend->Attack->Break->Defend. Attack means you attack fast if the opponent uses Break which means slow attack you attack them instead, if you use Defend and your opponent uses Attack you block the attack and counter attack them, and if your opponent uses Defend use Break: slow attack but charge attack which means you break their defense. Now to talk about how the system works when fighting against an enemy each turn you both have 6 moves and you can predict each move your enemy has to attack them you can view one move they're going to use but each battles you go against the same enemies you can view more of their moves. Each time you attack the enemy you create a combo if you create a 3 chain you get an EXTRA turn which is an extra but more powerful attack but same goes with the enemy so be so reckless and plan the commands. Not only you have the basic command but you also have skills which can be attacks or helpful status also skill attacks nullify enemy attacks and breaks but if they defend they'll take less damage also skills do not count for the chain attacks. It sounds all confusing here but the in-game tutorial will make it easier. My only problem with the gameplay is the saving, you can only save outside the arena so if you were level grinding for an hour or 2 and get killed you lose all that time which irritated me a lot but other than that it's fun as hell. The Music is awesome, the school, the arena, the battles, the Master battles, it's all awesome and doesn't bore once. As you progress through the story the music for everything changes and few games only do that which is why I love this game for variety on almost everything which creates replay value :D.The voice acting is all in Japanese only which I didn't mind since I've also played a lot of games like that too (Dead or Alive for example) and I loved it too. The Sound Effects all sound the same for everyone (attack, defend, break) which kinda bothered me a bit but skills are a different story they all sound different for everyone and most skills which made it better. The Graphics are good at best the character models looked great but plain too, the in-game movement were all a bit weird at times, but the character portraits where all great. Also when using skills or the Noble Phantasm the graphics are great as well. The enemy skills also look great. The Controls, well there aren't much controls to use in the game you move in the arena X or opening treasure, LR to move camera (which isn't that bad either) so its easy to use the battles are hard, it's easy at 1st but later on you could die within in turn. But other than that it's not that complicated. The Camera is fixed during battles so no need for further instructions there. The PSP doesn't have much great games to offer but with this game it can make me hope other wise. Fate/Extra is an amazing game and it can get repetitive but I still had a blast with this game from beginning to end.
