*****REVIEW*****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Project Zero is a survival horror game that is based on Japanese style horror movie elements, which says a lot about the overall scariness of the game.

Perhaps walking through a gloomy haunted mansion where several horrific murders took place doesn't sound so terrible to you?

OK, than imagine that you will be facing darkness and a host of tormented supernatural creatures, not as a super hero equipped with powerful weapons but as a vulnerable college girl with only a camera at her side…

Nine days have passed since Mafuyu, brother of Miku Hinasaki, has disappeared.

It all began about a month ago.

The media reported that famous novelist Jusei Takamine disappeared while gathering research for an upcoming novel. Mafuyu, an aspiring journalist, suspected that something was wrong. Why would his mentor simply vanish into thin air?
Mafuyu decided to conduct a private search for his friend, with the investigation eventually leading to the grounds of a secluded mansion. The Himuro mansion stands silent and imposing deep within the forest. It's said that years ago the mansion control over the area. But now it's a shadow of its former self, dilapidated and desolate…

As Mafuyu searched the mansion, he found scraps of paper left by Junsei and his staff throughout the mansion. The writings recounted a number of ominous event that happened in the mansion's dark past. Eager to find additional clues within the mansion, Mafuyu rushed in and suddenly realized that he wasn't alone…

Miku came to the Himuro mansion in search of her missing brother. But she had no idea what she was getting into.

The graphics in Project Zero is very well done, but not really anything special. There's no real detail in the character's and the surroundings, but it is good nonetheless with the overall atmosphere. However the details on the supernatural creatures are very well done, with lots of up in your face moments.

The game-play is quite simple, that follows the same concept as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but instead of having weapons to fight of the evil, the only weapon at your side is a camera, which makes Project Zero (to a certain extent) more scarier. This camera that you get in the game is not like an ordinary camera no! The camera is very special. It lets you see the supernatural creatures through the camera lends, which your normal eyes can't see. It also has the power to fight spirits. Now since the enemies you encounter in the game are already dead. The camera more or less reduces your enemy's spirit power until there is nothing left. Some spirits will remain in an area throughout the whole game because of the pain the dead spirit took during time of death, so you'll be pretty much fight the same spirits even now and again depending where you are. The camera you have during the game can be upgraded, such as different types of film, each having more power than the other for more powerful spirits. Over all the game-play is pretty simple, but may be difficult at times due to minor camera view issues. You may find the camera views frustrating at times due to the fact that sometimes it's hard to see what's in front of you or behind you, but it makes the game scarier to play, which is the whole point.

The sound in Project Zero is great, sound that WILL make the hairs on the back of your neck stand WAY up. The soundtrack is nothing much, but it's the sound effect that I would have to say is the best thing about the fear. You'll hear things that will ether make you pause the game out of fright, run away, or freeze on the spot with shock.

The lifespan is pretty ok, depends on you really. The game will probably take you somewhere between 8 to 10 hours to finish on your first playthrough. I recon you could finish the game in about 4 hours, after your first play. Project Zero is a great game with a lot of scary moments, but it has no re-play value. Once the game is done, that's it, so you probably want play it again for some time unless you really love the game, or you play it with a group of friends, which is great.

Overall Project Zero is a decent game and if you like getting the sh*t scared out of you, you will find it in Project Zero. The story is pretty mediocre, but the game-play is good, the sound-effects are great, and the thing Project Zero really dose very well with, is the Fear, which I have to say Project Zero is one of (if not) the scariest game ever.
