Animal Crossing meets Class-based Gore!

User Rating: 8.5 | Fat Princess PS3
They are many things that can said for this game but the ones that stand out in my mind is ambitious, addictive, and just down right FUN. The level of depth and execution Titan as achieved with Fat Princess goes unmatched by most (if any) downloadable games. With the addition of classes varying from mage, ranger, warrior, healer, and my personal favorite worker; FP took whats essential from other RPGs and integrated it with a visual style of a game like animal crossing. It goes without mentioning that this game juxtaposes that idea with blood and gore.....lotʻs of it. :D

Classes
Classes is a substantial element that makes FP what it is, each class has its own particular niche they fill to establish a kind of synergy between another. A Mage can perform an A.O.E. (area of effect) freezing enemies within the diameter protecting a priest who is preoccupied healing someone else is one instance. The added sophistication of an "advanced" class brings forth more dynamism. The worker has the ability to collect resources scattered throughout a level whether it be ore or wood, once collected the worker can build and upgrade buildings and classes. A mage who was once fire can change into an ice, a ranger who once carried crossbows now carries guns, and so on. The ability to "pick up" a hat left by an opponent or a team mate is a solid idea and is welcomed.

Campaign
The campaign cleverly disguises itself as a dinner menu so to speak showing you the different game modes FP has to offer while intermittently telling a story. The story is cute and at times funny but for a downloadable game pretty good...can be beaten in less than an hour or two.

Online
Been playing it since launch and I can say that there is an improvement between then and now. although being in hawaii i can say that i get the usual high latency issues some of the time. but overall the games i eventually connect to ARE fun.

A game like FP shouldn't turn you off because of its online issues. It's a great game no matter how you look at it. The multi-player is when you do connect. and heck most of the time the AI allies seem to be more intelligent than most human players out there. there's almost a shrouded mesh between playing with real people and AI. which means offline can have the same experiences that online can have.
