Like Mining .....you have to through a lot of rough to get to the Gold

First of all before you start judging me, know that I have played Fallout 3 for upwards of 100 hours and really really wanted to love New Vegas, but the fact is this game is just not refined enough to give a player a smooth ride.

If we accept the glitches, bugs and long loading times, there is still many other things that will frustrate you and go against the whole spirit of Fallout.

You are heavily pushed towards the following skills
1. Melee weapons
2. Speech
3. Explosives

I did not choose any of these and stuck to my Fallout 3 combo of Small guns, Repair and Lock pick and the game simply did not provide a level playing field. There were no awesome guns until the very end (no worthwhile machine guns) and repair was pretty much useless. In order to fight the last boss on anything above "easy" you will need Melee weapons (HINT: Caesars Glove - DON'T SELL IT NO MATTER WHAT!). Besides this it is obvious the designers wanted to outdo Fallout 3 in terms of the number of locations and missions available but unfortunately a lot of the missions are kind of a throw away and you fill a little over roared when you have like 6 or 7 missions available at once. 2-3 is a lot more manageable. I would also strongly recommend that you don't waste your time on small time side missions as they are actually repetitive and boring and sometimes do not give you experience for completing them. Additionally there are heaps and heaps of locations but many are just an excuse to send you digging for the same junk you've already searched through a million times in Fallout 3 or are a single building with a small amount of loot in it. Also some of the missions conclude with the character remaining walking around on a loop in the same area you met them before the mission which makes this game feel a bit lifeless at times. Also many of the new guns feel very similar and you actually struggle to get your hands on a single good weapon like the combat shotgun from Fallout 3.

The fact is this game is a big bloated mess that needs a lot of refining to make it the smooth ride that Fallout 3 was. The faction system is definitely a great addition and companions are a lot more helpful than in Fallout 3.

Overall this game will make you feel a bit disappointed and frustrated. I really hoped this would satisfy my hunger for another Fallout but it actually kind of made me question why I liked the franchise so much in the first place ........Bethesda what happened?
