I've been recommended this game for years and finally got through it recently. The writing is pretty good. You're paved in a melting pot where a number of factions vie for power and it's up to you too determine which one you'll place in power. Gameplay is ok but you'll need a few QOL tweaks (like base running speed changes) and you'll need to put some points in the guns or energy weapons skill to make the best of gunplay. Of all the DLCs, Honest Hearts and Old World Blues were the best, introducing quirky settings and interesting new NPCs. I felt like Dead Money was the weakest with it's forced stealth and some invincible enemies. The introduction of the proximity bombs which immediately kill you was more annoying than fun.
