Best Game I've Played since...well...Skyrim

User Rating: 10 | Fallout 4 PC

Bethesda's true character really is the world which they build, and this one is radiating with retro-futuristic, apocalyptic style. I'm about 20 hours in and haven't even begun to scratch the surface. The ruins of downtown Boston are massive and ominous. The music is a mixture of synthesizers, trash drums and big band shakin'-ness. And no, the Witcher 3 or GTAV (or any other game in the past few years) doesn't even come close artistically. Fallout 4, as one reviewer said, is the first masterpiece of this generation.

Now for a few minor places of improvement that I have noticed. BETHESDA, LISTEN UP! I sense a little bit of simplification for the worse in a few areas (character building with perks, dialogue, ...). Others have called it streamling, which is another term for modernism (yuck, how I hate modernism and its souless-ness!). Bethesda, please don't become like all the other game companies artistically! Keep it artistic, keep doing your own thing and innovating regardless of the industry pressures! I wouldn't have minded the controls to be half broken just like Fallout 3 and the decaying world its in. It made sense. I would't have minded the dialogue to be rough, broken, culturally shifted in sentence structure and ideas. It would be more realistic and artistic. I wouldn't have minded all the bugs...oh wait, those are already there! AND I LOVE THEM! Why? Because it fits the world and its dark humor.

Congratulations, Bethesda! You've created a masterpiece.

I give this a 9.7 out of 10.
