Delve into the Pitt for More Moral Dilemmas in the Wasteland

User Rating: 6.5 | Fallout 3: The Pitt X360
The second DLC that I played for Fallout 3 was the Pitt. In this DLC, the story starts with yet another distress call, pulling you to the very top of the Wasteland map. A slave has escaped and wants your help in freeing other slaves and finding a cure for the radiation that is turning the slaves into monsters. This DLC does suffer from predictable plot devices, but that doesn't take away from the fun of the game.

You arrive in the Pitt and are immediately attacked by Raiders. The person your helping convince you to go in, giving up all your weapons to enter as a slave and find out what is going on. As plots go, this beginning doesn't tell you much, but it sets the perfect stage for you to sympathise with one faction. The story forces you to fight in an arena-style battle to gain an audience with the man in charge, once there, you discover that the story you were told isn't quite what you thought it was and your choices are to kidnap a child or not. The moral dilemma doesn't come with any hints and the end result is a choice made completely by the gamer.

While this game had some unspectacular points, the environment and activities were enough to keep me engaged throughout. There is a portion of the game where you can collect silver ingots, which I did, and you get some really interesting armour if you do. There are also some other types of weapons you can collect and bring back to the Wasteland. The weight restriction was maddening once again, but that alone made the DLC worthwhile.

Unlike the first DLC I played, this one resonated on many levels and the environments were varied to the point that it didn't seem boring after an hour. I felt engaged throughout and was glad to have gotten this DLC. The Pitt is well worth the money if you buy the Game of the Year edition of this game, as it is included with that.
