Not recommended for experienced racers in single player, look amazing!, cars are easy to handle.

First let me explain i have been playing racing games for so long, i started in the last Millennium, so this review is purely from my personal perspective as an very experienced "Racing game"

Well F1 2010 i was so excited when that game was announced. When i finally got to play it was found myself watching the intro like a child watching the presents being placed under the tree at Christmas time, only to realize that they are all filled with coal. First there is a lot of positive stuff about Codemasters' first Formula 1 game, the feedback through the wheel is spot on (G27) it look amazing especially in the rain, even tho the rain drops on the screen can make you miss your braking points. As i started my career i already knew about the no racing stuff, with the PR ect. which is not really what I'm looking for in a racing game but it was a nice touch anyway. I had 3 options as my first year in F1 since i had chosen the longest career and the hardest difficulty, in the end i ended up at lotus. as i rolled out of the garage in my first event i found myself doubting if the game actually could live up to my expectation, first impression was positive with the feedback i got through my wheel(i used the same settings as i do for Rfactor). I soon discovered that the car is a lot more forgiving that i had expected, but that is okay since it was never a 100% pure sim. On one of my first flyers i passed Lewis on the lap around Albert Park, whom then set a faster time than i did on the same time, at first i thought that i was just me to paying attention to the times, so i went into the garage again to look at sector times and maybe to take a ride onboard lewis to see how he was taking different corners. But there were no such features. It is right here that the game falls apart for me as an experienced racer of both Rfactor and the Race/GTR series. The EGO engine which Codemasters use for F1 2010 is the same engine as they use for the Dirt series, which causes a massive let down for people like me, since there is no split times, no on-board, the times are scripted and so is the crashes. This mean that the cars driving around on the track have to relation with the times they are doing. If you own F1 2010 try this: Start a race, any race will do, run the first lap as the times show up pay attention as i found myself start from pole and leading the entire first lap and even pulling out a small lead but my lap time was 6 secs off the driver behind me. Which leads me to another point of criticism i have. Which is that is game on legend simply is to easy, i won the drivers champion ship in my very first season with lotus on legend by wining every single race that season.

so to conclude, if you are looking for a F1 racing sim, this is not it and you will be disappointed with the "cheating" codemasters have done by scripting AI and how forgiving the cars are to mistakes even with all driver aids off.
On the other hand if you are not, and you are a casual racing gamer i would recommend this game, since it is not actually aiming to be a pure racesim it have not failed, but i can't help my disappointment dragging down the score a bit
