Not a bad effort for the sport.

User Rating: 8.5 | F1 2010 PS3
F1 is a sport with mixed reactions some love it some don't. F1 2010 does off a true F1 experience but it does suffer in some areas.

Gameplay

In the game you get the choice of a Single Player race where you select your favourite car and driver and choose a track to race on and how many laps you want to do. Time Trial is like a practice of the curcuit and howfast you can go round certain tracks and is a good way to learn curcuits.

The game does have multiplayer and it isn't to good because when you play online you can't choose which car you want. So you will most likely end up with the car you didn't want. Then there's Career Mode. It is where you are a Rookie and start out in a small team and as you build up your reputation other teams will notice you and think about signing you up but you have to reach certain goals. So it might take about 2 or 3 years in Career to get into a top team like a McLaren or a Ferrari and some might get tired after a while. You also have t6o handle the press sometimes as well.

In the game to make the game easier you can have Driver Aids which give you braking assistance and the best line to take for a corner. You can change the settings in the Career and restart races so it can be a bit annoying and really to easy. Also if you hit someone or take a shortcut you might get a penalty.

Presenatation

It actually does seem to capture the feel of the sport with wet weather conditions and pit stops and Engine temperature meaning your car will probably not be as fast. Some tracks will dry out and some will get wet and overtaking can be hard in certain conditions and some might spin off the track.

Lastability

You will spend most of your time in the Career and getting into a fast car like a Ferrari will take a while but the question is will you continue to race afterwards or the question is will you put in the few seasons to get into a top winning car.

Overall Opinion

Not a bad effort for a racing game. Fans will like some won't like it. The game is quick and easy to get into the game. It is worth checking out if your a fan of the sport. F1 does have potential with a few parts missing from the real thing. It isn't perfect but trys really hard to offer you a true F1 experience. Maybe the start of something special maybe. Let's wait and see but a good effort by Codemasters but I think many PS3 owners are waiting for Gran Turismo 5 and might not bother with this. A good effort but with stronger racers coming out soon it might be a game to rent.
