An excellent racer that anyone with a Gamecube or Wii should enjoy.

User Rating: 8.5 | F-Zero GX GC
F-Zero GX is the sequel the F-Zero X from the Nintendo 64. F-Zero GX is probably the most fast paced, fun racer on the Gamecube out there.

Gameplay, 8. Unlike it's racing counterparts on the Gamecube, Mario Kart: Double Dash and Kirby Air Ride, F-Zero GX is more of a traditional racer, meaning it's not a Kart Racer. One notable difference from other racers is that there are 30 racers competing, which makes for an interesting race.
There are many modes in the game: Grand Prix, Time Attack, Vs., Practice, Story, Replays, Customize, and Profiles. Grand Prix is like other Grand Prixs in other racing games like in the Mario Kart series. You pick from one of the cups and race through the five tracks. Time Attack is where you pick a track and race through it as fast as you can. Vs. is where 2-4 players can race on a track together. Practice is just where you practice on a single track with any number of computers, 1-29, as you like. You can also die and fall of the track as many times as you like. Story would be the main mode. In this mode you follow the first ever actual story in the F-Zero series. It consists of unique tracks under certain conditions, and checkpoint races. Replays is where you can view replays that you saved on your memory card. Customize is where you can make your own machines, make your own vehicles, and buy machines, parts for custom vehicles, and buy items like Story mode chapters or Time Attack ghosts to race against. Profiles is where you can view the profile of racers you have bought.
The game plays quite well. The one problem is that the machines are a little unbalanced, some characters just plain have sucky stats. But other than that the game plays great.

Graphics, 10. The graphics are perfect. Usually you wouldn't expect these type of graphics from a Gamecube game, especially one made by Nintendo. Great detail in the way the characters look, especially when you take into account that the only glimpse you saw of the characters in F-Zero X was 2D cartoonish picture of them. The machines look perfect. The tracks look fantastic. The graphics for this game are just perfect.

Sound, 8. The music is all right. It's nothing too special. The sound effects are well done. There is voice acting in the Story mode and that is done pretty well.

Value, 10. With so many different modes to play, almost 40 different machines to unlock, many tracks to earn, along with custom parts to buy, this game will definitley last you a very long time. Probably longer than any other racer on the Gamecube. The only drawback is that the Vs. mode isn't as good as it is in Mario Kart: Double Dash, but since most of this game is very good you should be able to forgive that fault.

Difficulty, Just Right. The difficulty may seem steep after the first chapter in Story mode but the rest of the game is fairly easy to pick up.

Tilt, 8. I liked this racer. If you're a Gamecube or Wii owner and you are in need of a speedy racer than F-Zero GX is the game you should get.
