Blisteringly fast, hard, and you'll love it

F-zero GX can be described in one word. Intense. As soon as a race starts your speed starts to edge towards 1000m/p/h and you drive recklessly against maniacs who who would like nothing better than to blast your ship off the track. A big talking point of this game is the graphics. They are stunning, from futuristic metropolis, to a lush forest and a lightening field with fantastic lightening effects. The backdrops are very detailed( look out for R.O.B the robot on one track). Not that you will notice. You will blast past it all in seconds, your concentration focused on securing first place. However, I have to warn you about one thing: This game is hard. The tracks are full of twists, very sharp turns and huge jumps. Dont be surprised if you crash and burn or fly off the track within seconds when you first tryout this game. On some of the harder tracks you may need to memorise every twist and turn, just to finish. Not only that, your rivals are after your blood. They will ram your ship as if they're possessd on harder difficulties. To stand a chance of winning, you must become as aggressive as them and return the favour. This game has a number of features to keep you entertained. There is the standard Grand Prix, Time Attack and Practise, but one of the standout new features is Story mode. In this mode you take on the role of Captain Falcon, and view his story through high-quality cut scenes(though they are abit camp). You must play through missions with unique challenges, such as avoiding falling boulders and preventing a bomb on your ship from exploding, by not slowing to a certain speed. Another new feature is the Garage, where you can actually create your own racer. When you win the Grand Prix, you earn new ship parts, which can be used along with special emblems to customise your dream machine. New parts can also be purchased from the shop, where new characters and Story mode chapters are also available. Overall, this is one of the best racers on the Gamecube, and if your after a very challenging, adrenaline-filled experience, this game is your best bet.
