User Rating: 7 | Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick PS2
The Evil Dead franchise is one of the most beloved horror franchises. It has given us three movies (The Evil Dead, Dead By Dawn and Army Of Darkness) a comic series and three video games (Hail To The King, Fist Full Of Boomstick and Regeneration). While the horror movies have been praised by horror lovers, the video-games have been less than succesful. Fist Full Of Boomstick is noticefully better than Hail To The King; and i would argue that it has better replay value than Regeneration.

Story- The story in typical Evil Dead fashion isn't neccessarily complicated or involved. However when in conjunction to the movies this work gives its fans a quirky, humerous plot through 3 different time periods, including an alternate evil dimention within dearborn. Ash, the quirky and dry humoured protagonist of the Evil Dead series travels around the many locations and time periods of his hometown Dearborn, stopping the deadites from changing history.

Visuals- The visuals of Evil Dead: A Fist Full Of Boomstick are not very impressive. However it utilises a graphics system that allows dozons upon dozens of enemies to appear on screen at once. This is really its only graphical pro.

Gameplay- Ash can weild different weapons that are collected as you progress through the game. He can use his trademark chainsaw to slice and dice deadite zombies. He also can use a shoval, samurai sword, shotguns, handguns, grenade launchers and many more weapons to keep your enemies exploding to bits. Ammunition is limited but not sparce. Ash can explore 3 time periods that consist of 2 areas each. Defeating deadite upon deadite, which can become very difficult and tiresome. He also goes around exploring the area and solving puzzles. Ash can also collect spells that give him a advantage in combat, or can be used in a puzzle to progress. There are 3 very unimpressive boss fights.

Replayability- There is an unlockable arcade mode when you complete the game. As well as development art.

In conclusion, Evil Dead fans will appreciate the continuous quirky remarks of the smart-ass protagonist Ash as he fights the deadites. The game is the most epic an Evil Dead story could get, since it was concieved by Sam Raimi himself. Traveling along different time periods is an out there, wonderful way for Evil Dead Fans to explore the mythology of their favourite horror series. A great prize.
