Old-school RPG grinding on the DS with a neat interface.

This is not a DS RPG for folks new to the genre. It is HARD. You will spend a lot of time grinding to level up to beat bosses, or grinding to catch up other characters not in your regular party so you can complete side missions.

That said, this Etrian Odyssey 2 is practically perfect in every way. You have complete control over your party, picking the classes of each person. You aren't locked into a specific class because of a plot element.

The map-drawing aspect of the game is surprisingly fun. The only glitch, and the one that kept me from giving it a perfect 10, is that when you sometimes draw on the ice floors, when your party is sliding, the map won't always slide with them. A very minor complaint.

It has a decent story line, lots of different equipment, some of which is even class specific. There are side missions to augment the main plot as well.

All in all, very balanced and practically perfect. If you're a fan of old school RPGs you'll probably love it!
