Eternal Sonata is a RPG set in a world between dreams and reality, as composer Fredric Chopin lay dieing of tuberculous his dreams come to life in this fresh take on the classic RPG.The first thing that you'll notice about Eternal Sonata, is the rich and detailed world with a great use of color that gives this game it's dream like quality, at first glance Eternal Sonata looks like a standard RPG, with it's rag tag cast of characters and turn based combat. This is where the similarities end and Eternal sonata separates itself with a very deep and interesting combat system, that gives you action without taking away the strategy of classic turn based combat. You have a timer called the action gauge that starts to count down if you move or attack you're free to do as you wish until time runs out and your turn is over. There's also the use of light and dark on the battle field your special attacks change depending on your position, enemies will also use this to their advantage even changing form, this along with the ability to counter attack leads to a lot of strategy. The cut scenes can be a little long and slow the pace down, and the environments although beautiful don't offer many places to explore, those things aside Eternal Sonata is a very refreshing take on the classic RPG formula with more of an emphasis on action, if your a fan of classic RPGs but want a little more action you should definitely check out Eternal Sonata.
