As far as I am concerned, this is the best fighter ever made...

User Rating: 8.5 | Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side SCD
When the first Eternal Champions came out as a cart for the Genesis, I was really impressed with the kind of gameplay it had. Not just the fact that it was a fighter, but that they added elements of other fighting games to this one. So in a way, you had a combination of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and several others all rolled into one fighter. Then when the SEGA CD hit the market and I heard they were making a CD version with even more characters and more death scenes and even more secrets to uncover, I was so ready to buy this game.

GRAPHICS
=========
Okay, so teh graphics aren't so great, but what did you expect from a game system that only produces 52 colors. Overall, the animation is very smooth, and the 2D sprites are fantastic to look at. Added to the fact that the cinematics are very good and work will with the intro and with the cinekills. Added to the fact that they added more characters, more deaths, more splatters, and more stages, this game just won't quit. Overall you will enjoy the views and deaths taht this game has to offer.

CONTROL
=========
One thing to note about this game is that, if you are a first timer to this game, the controls do take a while to get used to. But, once you have figured out how the gameplay and action commands work, you will enjoy it. Controls have not changed much since the cart version. All the moves and controls are still the same and you will like the fact that they added the new characters. Most of the older characters have not lost a thing since th first game. In fact, some of the older characters have gained a few moves here and there. And of course, added to the fact that more stages also means more deaths and kills, and with the added Cinekills, it adds just the right touch of murder to the already bloody style gameplay it has. Although most of teh moves are easy to pull off, some of the moves are a little trickier for certain characters. But all in all, stance and distance also play a key roll in getting the moves to work as well as connect. And with added tournament mode as well as versus play, your friends will enjoy the head to head style of gameplay modes it has to offer.

OVERALL
========
If you liked the original cart version, then you will just love the new SEGA CD version even more. With more characters, moves, stages, and kills than ever before, this game will give Mortal Kombat a run for it's money. If you do love fighter games, then this game can't be passed up. Add this classic fighter to your collection and start playing now. Go ahead, kill your opponent with the deadly windmill or crush them with the oncoming car at the theater. Death awaits those who can either take it or not. :)
