Although it's pretty hard, you can't go wrong with this Side Scroller.

GAMEPLAY: The controls for this game are pretty simple, as were most games for the Genesis. One button allows you to jump, one to use your boomerang, and one to use a magic attack. There are few different magic attacks you will use in the game that you unlock later on. They are, of course, limited to use by MP that slowly recovers when you don't use it. The boomerang is just a tad less powerful and can be used twice at a time which is pretty nice. That's all I have to say about the controls.

The basic layout of the game is pretty standard of side scrollers of that time. There's not much difference from other 2D titles of this kind, but don't let that change your opinion of this game.

Throughout the game, you go through many different locales, such as 1920's Manhattan, a mountain area, a water level where you ride a Dolphin's back,as well as on top of an airplane. You'll also be fighting a wide array of enemies, as it seems that everyone you see in the game is out to get you. Gangsters will shoot at you, guys on motorcycles with hockey masks will ram you, old ladies will throw pots and chairs at you from their windows, and grotesquely obese men will EXPLODE.

The game is pretty difficult, as there will be tons of enemies attacking you, and you may have to go through more than one boss per stage. With all that said, it's still pretty entertaining.

GRAPHICS: The graphics you see in the game are pretty decent. There's really not much to say about them, other than that some things are kinda hard to make out. Although, the anime-style cutscenes are nicely done.

SOUND: The sound effects in this game are standard of Genesis games. However, there are some pretty catchy tunes in this game which I'm sure you'll be humming in your head soon after playing it.

Overall, this game isn't for most people. If you don't really like difficult games, then I wouldn't suggest playing it. But, if you like 2D action games and you happen to find this somewhere for a nice, cheap price (say around $5), then I definitely suggest it.
