Ed, Edd n' Eddy: The Mis-EDventures is a decent licensed game, and is better suited to those who are fans of the show.

Cartoon Network back in the '90s and early 2000s proved that they were the kings of broadcasting cartoon shows. Now a days, the only good shows on there are Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Tom and Jerry, and Chowder. But, during their reign of cartoondom, one certain show for any Cartoon Network viewer of yesteryear is one that is the most memorable that the network has to offer. That show was Ed, Edd n' Eddy. Created by Ramones fan Danny Attonucci, the show was about the three Eds (Ed being the stupid one, Edd being the smartest, and Eddy being the complete jackass) who try and scam the neighborhood kids, consisting of Kevin (the guy that beats up the Eds in certain episodes), Sarah (Ed's sister), Nazz (the one that gets the most attraction), Johnny with his friend Plank, Jimmy (the girlish boy), and Rolf (everyone's favorite farm boy). Almost every episode has the Eds up to their old tricks. Edd (or Double-D) complains a lot of times on certain scams Eddy pulls off. But, I digress. We love seeing Eddy getting the crap kicked out of him, for old times sake. Because of the success of the show, merchandise had to be made. So if there's merchandice, you'd expect some video games from the franchise, right? Heheh, of course you do. Well, there are 3 of them. There's one called Jawbreakers, which was on the GBA, Scam of the Century ala DS, and this one: The Mis-EDventures.

The game was released by Midway, the same company responsible for the Mortal Kombat games. With all the violent video games they've been making (and kid-friendly ones), you'd think they'd make a game based off a Cartoon Network show. Well, they did, along with The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, both of which are Cartoon Network licenses that Midway agreed to make games on (including this one). Out of the three, two of them were worth playing according to critics. I guess Fosters wasn't a good one to make a game out of at the moment.

Alrighty, so there's 6 levels (or Scams) in the game. Each scam starts off with a cutscene. A minor problem here, is that the animation isn't as good as on the TV show, even though the damn thing's on a DVD-ROM format, but I digress because the cast from the show is there which is awesome. I love the voices in this show. Now of course, you're playing as the Eds. This game requires you to use an Ed's special ability. For example, Ed can charge and smash his head on the ground like a godforsaken woodpecker (except with dirt and concrete), Edd can use a slingshot to shoot water balloons at targets and switches, and Eddy who throws his stinkbombs to stun enemies. They also have their own formations that can be activated by pressing L1. As I said, Ed can charge with the other Eds behind him, Edd can jump to higher places with Ed and Eddy's help, and Eddy can have the Eds make a tower with him at the top to reach objects.

Here's where we get technical.

The characters are cel shaded and the graphics are overall pretty good and capture the show's image. The only thing wrong here is that some of the characters aren't really designed right. For example, Kevin's chin is alot bigger than usual, and Eddy looks downright ugly. The other characters I don't have a problem with.

The sound and music is exactly what you would expect if you have watched the show (which I'm pretty sure you have at some point in your life). The whole cast is here, which is awesome, and the music is basically multiple trumpets (sometimes with a mute), a double bass, a piano, drums of course, and some whistlers. A jazzy feel indeed. The problem is that the Ed, Edd n' Eddy theme plays every time you pause the game. I'll admit, I love the theme song to this show, but I don't want to hear it multiple times when I'm in the damn bathroom or going to get something to eat.

The gameplay is just 3D platforming with some puzzles involved. Obviously, you wouldn't be expecting this game to be a complete cakewalk. Unless if you are a professional game player like myself.

The overall time you'll be spending to beat all 6 scams is at least 1 1/2 to 3 hours, depending on how well you beat the game. If you want to beat the game and get all items and extras, it'll take 5-6 hours, at least. Let me just say that the video "My Best Friend Plank" is in the game. Remember that video that showed during commercial breaks or to fill in time back then when the show was #1 on Cartoon Network's line-up? I sure do. So overall, this game is better recommended to fans of the TV show. If you're just curious, I'd give this game a rental. It's not the worst licensed game ever made (E.T. is the worst, people), but it isn't the best either (The Lion King on the SNES and Genesis was the best licensed game in my opinion). Now if only Cartoon Network could release a DVD pack containing all of the episodes. I'm hoping that they do that, because as I said, I love this show.
