In Earth Defense Force 2017 you as a soldier who must fight off giant insects and giant machines. You must use a assortment of weapons to use against enemies from machine guns to rocket launchers, you get these weapons from dead enemies because enemies drop off useful items like health upgrades and other junk. The main setting is some city where all the buliding are crushable. In the first few missions you are just fighting giant insects, but after a few you start to fight space ships and giant robots. You also have many comrades around the city to help you, but there mostly annoying because they never shut up. There are a few instances where you can drive a tank, helicopter, and even a robot suit. One of the most annoying things is that every time you go back to the start screen this annoying female voice is talking to you and she never shuts up. Another thing thats annoying about it is that all the text appear in boxes like we don`t know where the text is. This game is okay, but it need lots of to be considered a good game.
