Easy to pick up, fun to play

Dynasty warriors has long been associated with a tired franchise and a complete lack of imagination from its production company Koei. This still holds true in the formula for the game being much the same as its predecessors. However, the game, like the previous games are fun to play. That is the point of a video game is to be engaging and fun. Gone from this version is one of the more annoying aspects of the previous games in that you don't have to run or ride anywhere on the battlefield. It is controlled entirely by an strategic map and dare I say it is a good thing. Health is easy restored by returning to a supply depot instead of smashing pots hoping to find some smoking white puff balls of some kind which I can only assume is rice. The annoying voice acting is gone, and replaced with still pictures and text which isn't bad because the voice talent from the other games was terrible. The infantry are still relatively unimportant to the battle unless you choose to let them fight it out, and the only real obstacles you will encounter is the enemy officers, some of which are pretty tough, a la Lu Bu. Overall, the game is fun, and with the features of the PSP, being able to switch off the system and return to the very spot when you turn it back on makes this title worth purchasing when you want to hack and slash for a few minutes or hours at a time. Fun overall game.
