This is SO 1990s action game.
Don't get me wrong. I knew what I was getting into. This game, although they tried to implant some stories into it, is pure action and no substance. Yes Zhao Yun is awesome. Yes Lu Bu is as fierce as ever. And YES, the female characters all look the same but otoku would still fantasize about them. Nevertheless, like the critics were saying, I was hoping for something more from this PS3/XBox version of Dynasty Warriors.
The choreography and the moves look as authentic as ever. But it gets tiresome after awhile. I had to wait a year to finish up all the story mode. And this is one of the other thing I don't get. Why couldn't you just create a story mode for everyone? A generic one is fine too. Or maybe different objective for each character. After all each general or soldier would have different agenda and objective on the battleground.
I don't like this game for one reason, and one reason only, it is boring. Not only was there 5 player story mode for each side. There is no more 4th weapon, where it would be the incentive that attracts people to keep on playing until that ultimate weapon is obtained. I like the training the horse part but that is not enough. The one-on-one mode got a little better from the previous version, but dang those minions surrounding you is stronger than ever!
The sad thing is Dynasty Warrior Empire series doesn't really help either! Don't buy it. Get it from a friend. You'll appreciate it more.
