Smooth combat, improved visuals, and stronger character development means a better Dynasty Warriors.

Before I begin, let me point out one thing most fans should notice: The combat.

Before, you executed a string of attacks that stopped at 6 at the max. Not anymore. Now, once you hit the final attack, with very little pause, your character continues the attack as smoothly as any good martial artist. The reason? Most of the characters use real kung fu.

Granted not all the characters use real kung fu, but the fact that it doesn't make the combat feel so "unreal" anymore is a nice change.

Also, Renbu is, I think, the best addition to the Warriors franchise since Triple Musou bars in Samurai Warriors 2. It should be called the "Adrenaline System", but if you are bashing so many heads over such short periods, you should be rewarded in ways other than drops, right?

The graphics are a vast improvement this time around. Everything looks great, even with some pop-up. Dead soldiers stick around a while, littering the battlefield like any good kung fu flick. Then, your ability to swim and climb, although late in execution, are appreciated. Being able to clear out pesky soldiers higher up is useful in tense battles.

While some characters are missing in this title, Koei compensated by making the existing storylines stronger and improving the voice acting by a considerable amount. Some acting from past titles was jarring, but it feels much better here.

To sum up, Dynasty Warriors 6 is a very nice upgrade over the others in the series to date. I would like to see Samurai Warriors receive the same treatment, but DW 6 is still a nice game for fans and others new to the series.
